HIBBING – A total of 32 teams took to the courtyard of Palmer’s Tavern on Oct. 17 for the inaugural Kickin’ Cancer in the Cornhole FUNdraiser for Angel Fund.
The snow started around 8 a.m. and fell off and on throughout the day – one of the earliest snowfalls on record. But the flakes didn’t stop all from having a great time.
The double elimination play began at noon and wrapped up just after 6 p.m. The top three winning teams were: Josh Shain & Justin Shega, who took home $500; “The Seekers” Alex Stark and Brady Stahl, who took home $300; and “Plenty of Excuses” Dan Reini & Zack Rowe.
Players got to nosh on a Palmer’s burger with their entry fee, and all attendees had the opportunity to participate in raffles, including Lucky Libations, Griddle Board, Split the Pot and Cut the Deck/Bean Bag Boards.
Those who won the games are as follows:
- Griddle and gift certificates board: Tia & Josh Shain
- Split the Pot: Dave Komula
- Bean Bag Boards: Kathy Snider
- Lucky Libations $100 winner: Nancy Hill
All told, the event raised $4,600 for area cancer patients! That includes a gift of $100 from the first place team and a $400 donation from Palmer’s through their sales that day.
We are ever so grateful for all who participated, donated and stopped by to support the fund!
