Rock for an Angel 2025: Rodeo-themed Fundraiser Lassos Success

The spirit of the Wild West came alive at this year’s Rock for an Angel: Rockin’ the Rodeo, Angel Fund’s 13th annual fun spiel which proved to be a resounding success in supporting area cancer patients.

Held at the Hibbing Curling Club on Feb. 8, the event brought together the community for a day of friendly competition, fun and generosity, raising an impressive $47,000 for Angel Fund.

All proceeds from the event will go to Northeastern Minnesota residents facing cancer, directly impact the lives of local patients, helping provide access to treatment and essentials, and providing hope.

The overwhelming participation and support demonstrated the power of community in making a difference. It was incredible to see so many people come together for a common cause, said Event Co-Chair and Board Director Kari Kilen.

“In spite of the fact that I’ve never curled in my life, this event is one of my favorite days of the year. I think that speaks volumes for the type of people who are involved — from the teams to the sponsors and donors to the volunteers to the people who show up that day just to buy tickets, watch the teams and support us,” added Kilen. “It takes a lot of people doing their part to put on a successful event, and once again this year we had great people.”

Not only were funds raised that day, but awareness was spread and solidarity for those battling cancer was shared. To date, this is the most successful Rock for an Angel event.

“We can’t thank the sponsors, businesses and individuals enough for their generous contributions,” said Event Co-Chair and Board Vice President Carolyn Pohjonen. (See our Sponsors & Contributors lists below)

“Without all the participants, sponsors, businesses and community members, we could not accomplish our mission.”

Plans are already in motion for next year’s event, so mark your calendar for Saturday, Feb. 14, 2026! To apply, donate or learn more about Angel Fund, see angelfundrange.org.
